Angel Tree
Across the community, festive Angel Trees are displayed in participating organizations, companies, retail stores, and malls. Each Angel of
The Salvation Army Angel Tree is an actual deserving child registered through this program. Donors are given a child’s clothing sizes and Christmas wish list. We are partnering once again with FOX Charlotte and want to thank our community partners UniverSoul Circus, Carolina Christmas at Charlotte Motorspeedway, Peppermint Forest, Cluck-n-Cup, and Precision Roof Contractors, Inc. for their support. To participate in the Angel Tree program contact our Christmas Center Donor Coordinator, Courtenay Nixon, at 980-297-0518 for information or email.
Host an Angel Tree
Your company, church, or organization can be a part of supporting The FOX Charlotte/Salvation Army Angel Tree program by hosting an Angel Tree at your site. This is a great way to help us get our angels into the community and allows your organization, business, or church to be a part of this important Christmas program. The Salvation Army will provide the angels and information packets for the community donors, with instructions on shopping and returning the gifts to The Salvation Army Christmas Center or to a drop off location for all types of trees.
An Angel Tree can be located on a Christmas tree, bulletin board, table, wall at your site or ONLINE with the FOX Charlotte Virtual Angel Tree. Email reminders and online tracking are making The Virtual Angel Tree an easy choice for businesses.
Please contact our Christmas Center Donor Coordinator, Courtenay Nixon, at 980-297-0518 for information or email to host an Angel Tree.
Adopt an Angel
Families, individuals, groups, or corporations from the local Charlotte community have the opportunity to be a sponsor and provide Christmas gifts for one of our angels. Each sponsor purchases NEW gifts and drops them off at The Salvation Army Christmas Center or community drop off location. From there, families pick up the gifts and present them to their children on Christmas Day.
You may also adopt online at the FOX Charlotte Virtual Angel Tree. Adopting is easy. Fill out the online registration form and pick your angel. You will have the option to print your angel and an instruction page. Then, after you shop, you may return your angel to any of the drop-off locations around town or at the Christmas Center.
The Salvation Army encourages sponsors to buy appropriate Christmas gifts at prices they feel comfortable spending. As a rule of thumb, however, gifts per angel typically average $50 to $150. If you plan on spending more than this amount, please consider adopting more than one angel so that we can serve as many children as possible.
Angels are available throughout the community as well as online. The Salvation Army also offers various drop-off locations for your angel’s gifts.

Toy Drives
Magical Toy Drive
Every child registered through the Angel Tree program is guaranteed to receive gifts, but each year the amount of children registered outnumbers the amount of children adopted by the community through our Angel Trees. The Salvation Army is proud to partner with NewsChannel36 and participating elementary and middle schools in Mecklenburg County to present the Magical Toy Drive. Your organization, business, church, or group can help the Angel Tree program by hosting Magical Toy Drive, too.
School Toy Drives
Since 2008, The Magical Toy Drive in Mecklenburg County schools has provided more than 12,700 new toys to children from troubled neighborhoods throughout the area. The two schools (one elementary and one middle) that collect the most toys will have a party with Salsarita's and a visit from NewsChannel 36 anchors Sonja Gantt and Dave Wagner.
For more information on hosting a Magical Toy Drive at your school, please click here. For your school to participate, please contact Shelley Henderson at 704-714-4727 or by email.
Community Toy Drives
The community can also support the Magical Toy Drive by dropping off a NEW unwrapped toy at The Salvation Army Christmas Center or a community drop-off location by Dec. 16.
Toy Drive Ideas
* Board Games
* Balls & Dolls
* Arts & Crafts Supplies
* Infant Toys & Clothes
* Teens & ‘Tweens (For children 11–14)
We welcome any other ideas you may have, and appreciate any NEW toys you may give and collect. You may also want to host a drive for a specific age group. Last year we had the greatest need for toys for children ages 0–2 and 12–14.
Click here to download an information page for hosting a toy drive.
Please return toys to The Salvation Army Christmas Center or a community drop off location by December 16, 2011 to allow for delivery before Christmas.
Please contact Shelley Henderson at 704.714.4727 or by email for information on hosting a toy drive.
