Why should I contribute to The Salvation Army?

For more than 120 years The Salvation Army has demonstrated its ability to identify and meet urgent human needs efficiently in communities throughout the world.  When you give to The Salvation Army, you know that your money is going to those who need it most.  Our wide range of programs means that we can help the whole person under the umbrella of a single agency.

How can I give?

I can’t make a financial contribution right now. How else may I help?

Volunteer with one of our programs or special events.  To learn more about our volunteer opportunities, click here.

How much money goes to administration?

Approximately 83 cents of every dollar we collect goes directly to programs, and 100 percent of every dollar donated for disaster relief goes to help the victims.

My business has an interest in helping specific causes. How can I ensure that our contribution will go to these causes?

We honor the designation preferences of our donors.  If donating by check, designate the program of your choice in the memo line.  If giving online, a box is provided for you to designate your gift.  If left undesignated, your gift will go to the area of most need. To donate now, click here.

Where does The Salvation Army work?

The Salvation Army began in London in 1865 before expanding to the United States.  Today The Salvation Army operates in 119 countries.  To learn more about our history, click here.

Why should I help people on the street when they won’t help themselves?

In these tough times, we all know of people who have suffered losses through no fault of their own.  When such an event happens, The Salvation Army is there to help. If social issues are left unattended, they affect society.  Drug problems, for example, often lead to crime.  Giving to The Salvation Army is an investment in prevention.  Through our programs, people are taught to behave responsibly and to assume control of their own lives.
