Captain’s Tom & Jennifer Richmond have been Officer’s in The Salvation Army since 1997 when they were commissioned from the CFOT in Atlanta, Georgia as members of the Messenger’s of God’s Love session.  They have served as Corps Officers in Louisville and Owensboro, Kentucky.  One DHQ appointment as the Divisional Youth Secretary and Divisional Corps Cadet Counselor  in Georgia for four years prior to moving to Charleston, West Virginia where they are the Area Commander’s.  Before answering God’s call to full time ministry Tom served as a Police Officer for sixteen years where, as he puts it, was involved in just about everything you could imagine and then some.  Jenny worked in the medical field as a pharmaceutical assistant and then later in retail as a purchasing and billing clerk for a large corporation.

The Richmond’s have three sons who are all married and have made their parents very proud.  Patrick, their oldest, and his wife Carey are Corps Officers in Nashville, Tennessee and they have two children who love their Papa T and Grammy to pieces.  Greg, their middle son, and his wife Raven are both active duty MARINES who are stationed in San Diego, California.  Alex, the youngest, and his wife live in Virginia where Alex serves as a Nuclear Engineer with The United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise.

Tom & Jenny have been married for thirty years and will tell you that the secret to their happiness is simple. “Love what you do and do what you love!”  They are crazy about ministry of any kind and love telling the story of His love for all.  They seek out new and exciting ways to bring the plan of Salvation alive for the people they minister to and they never stop learning.  Their one passion that they share besides the ministry and their family is a love for motorcycles.  Tom & Jenny are the Assistant State Coordinators for The Road Riders for Jesus Motorcycle Ministry team in West Virginia.  Through this ministry they have helped start a Church for Bikers that meets at The Salvation Army in Charleston, West Virginia every Sunday at 2:00pm where hundreds have been saved through the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.

They both feel that though the Lord has allowed many victories over the past 13 years, He’s not through with them yet.  “For any of us to be effective leaders we must first become humble servants.”
