Every year The Salvation Army provides toys and food for needy families in Aiken, Allendale and Barnwell Counties. This year will be no different, hundreds of families will come seeking help to make Christmas special for their family and we need your help!
“Angel Tree” Program
This Program provides new clothing and toys for children of needy families. A Tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child. Contributors can remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child described on the tag.
Volunteers are needed at the Aiken Mall for the months of November and December, Monday – Saturday, 10:00am-9:00pm and at our Christmas Distribution Center
Stocking Program
This year we want to provide EVERY child with a stocking for Christmas. These 24” long red net stockings can be filled with items for children ages
0 – 12 years old. Stockings are distributed to the families that receive assistance during the Christmas Season.
Our Goal this year is to fill 1200 stockings!
Food Assistance
All families, seniors, and disabled persons receiving assistance through The Salvation Army this Christmas will receive a food box or a food gift card. We want to start providing essential food items and a cake, some milk and meat for each family to have a special Christmas dinner.
Individuals, Churches, Civic Groups and Businesses desiring to provide a food box for a needy family can do so by: donating the food items, making a financial contribution to The Salvation Army or by sending a$25.00 food gift card from a local grocery store or by sponsoring a specific item (see Christmas Partners Section).
Christmas Partners
This year, we are asking businesses, churches and individuals to help sponsor our Christmas Food Boxes. A sponsorship of 8 Food boxes at $30 each, or a donation of $200 or more towards a particular item in our Food boxes allows you to become a Christmas Partner. Your group name will be placed on our Christmas Partners Truck that is driven through the Aiken area during the Holiday Season as well as being listed on each food box given to each family.
Adopt-A-Family
The Adopt-A-Family program matches individual or group sponsors with a family who has experienced circumstances which have made it difficult or impossible for the caregivers to provide Christmas for the family. Families are only "Adopted" once in a lifetime. The sponsors provide Christmas gifts from a wish list compiled by the family and often include a gift for the parent(s).
