Last year The Salvation Army provided groceries for over 5000 individuals at Christmas and throughout the year. This year will be no different. However in the past we have relied heavily on schools to do food drives for us and last year they provided up with over 20,000 canned food items, but this year 8 schools have backed out. If we have to purchase the food that we received from these schools it will cost us over $10,000. We do not have this budgeted so if we have to buy the food our other programs will suffer, like our Soup Kitchen or Boys & Girls Club. We have already promised over 500 families Food Baskets this Christmas and we need your help! On Saturday, December 10 we will be holding a Food Drive. All you have to do is drive up to the old Belk Building in Kalmia Plaza on Richland Ave and donate canned food items to our program. Call 641-4141 for more information. Thank you for helping to make Christmas special for needy families this year!
