Boys & Girls Clubs

The Safe, Positive Place for Kids

Children are our future and for too many of them that future is dark. Since 1934 The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs have brought light to Mecklenburg and Union county youth. Our mission is to enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Our work falls into three strong pillars: character, education, and healthy lifestyles. In a recent survey of Charlotte Club alumni, 57% said the Clubs “saved their lives.” Club alumni have a graduation rate upwards of 90%, markedly higher than the average for inner-city students. The first Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club opened in Union County in January 2012; in just 12 months, the Club grew from 25 members to more than 200. A second Union County Club is opening at East Union Middle School in the Fall of 2014.
