CalebKs Raises Money with Strikeouts

For the past four seasons, pitcher Caleb Ashley (CalebKs.com) has been helping raise money for charitable organizations in Guilford County. Every time he strikes someone out, he encourages others to make a donation to the charity that he has selected. This year, he directed his attention towards The Salvation Army after seeing how The Salvation Army was helping in downtown Greensboro.

The Cold Water Challenge

Earlier this week, our new Digital Media Coordinator challenged our Director of Development to the Cold Water Challenge. He agreed, on the condition that she get our Facebook page to over 2,000 likes (meaning, she would need over 500 new likes!).

National Donut Day

The first National Donut Day was celebrated by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to help raise needed funds during the Great Depression and commemorate the work of the "donut lassies" who helped make the donut what it is today by feeding the tasty confection to American soldiers during World War I. The donuts became synonymous with The Salvation Army, as well as the American soldiers who were returning home with the nickname, "doughboys."
