The General

"General" is the title given to the international head of The Salvation Army, as elected by a council of Salvation Army leaders from around the world.

From "International Headqarters" in London, England the General directs Salvation Army operations and develops international policy for The Salvation Army.  The General also travels frequently to the many parts of the world in which The Salvation Army is at work.

Currently in office is General Shaw Clifton.  General Clifton was elected in January 2006 and took office in April of that same year.  He serves with his wife, Commissioner Helen Clifton, the World President of Women's Ministries.
